Beetles
There are more than 350,000 known species of beetles worldwide and approximately 30,000 species in North America. Beetles have 4 stages of development, egg, larva, pupa and adult. Adults have the particularity of having 2 pairs of wings, one of which, the outer pair, is more rigid, protects the pair inside. Although they have wings, not all beetles fly.
Beetles are very diverse in their habits and food. Some are stored product pests, others feed on wood, others can eat and damage fabrics, some are predators and prey on other insects.
